The appendix is Finger sac like structure at the base of the cecum. It is a vestigial structure and its function has been debated for ages. It becomes problematic when the appendix gets obstructed or infected which can lead to perforation. An Appenctomy is the main course of treatment. This is usually an emergent procedure.
